Principal Responsibilities: 1. School Ethos • Uphold, and put into practice, the agreed vision and aims of the school; • Promote pupils’ well-being at all times; • Promote equal opportunities within a learning environment which is inclusive; • Ensure a high standard of physical and emotional care for all pupils; • Enhance pupils' moral, spiritual, social and cultural development in class and during school assemblies; • Promote good behaviour, mutual respect and school rules; • Aim to instil self-discipline in all pupils; expect good behaviour and courtesy from all pupils; • Implement all whole-school policies and procedures; • Promote Welsh language development and pupils’ understanding of Wales, its heritage and culture; • Report on the welfare, social and personal needs of individual pupils to the Headteacher. 2. Planning • Prepare long-term, medium-term and short-term curriculum plans, keeping abreast of the requirements of the Curriculum 2008 and its revisions, the Literacy and Numeracy framework, PSE framework and Welsh Assembly initiatives/frameworks/plans in education; • Produce weekly lesson plans and evaluate pupil progress; • Identify the needs of pupils with Additional Learning Needs (SEN, MAT and EAL) within weekly lesson plans and differentiate tasks/activities accordingly. Liaise regularly with the ALNCO and take account of each pupil’s IEP.
