About the role: Each Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) offers educational provision to pupils aged 5 – 16 who are permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school as well as other pupils that the LA has a statutory responsibility for such as pregnant schoolgirls. The PRU’s core offer is to provide short term placements for pupils up to the end of Key Stage 3 with the aim of successful re-integration back into a mainstream setting. At Key Stage 4 the aim is to achieve accreditation to support pupils onto the next stage of their education, employment or training.About you: A commitment to enhancing well-being for all students and those working with them – to enhance their learning and life chances.Effective implementation of strategies to support students with emotional, behavioural and social needs.Experience of teaching curriculum subjects at Key Stage 4 to accreditation level e.g. GCSEWhat you will do:As literacy champion you will be responsible for co-ordinating and developing literacy across the curriculum.To fulfill all the requirements and duties as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.To teach a variety of subject areas within the PRU and the Outreach service. Where appropriate, participate in the development of schemes of work, materials and syllabuses of the department.
