About the role: Family Support Workers will provide support and assistance to stabilise and improve the current living arrangements for the child or young person. They will carry a caseload of children and young people, they will manage their own workload. Family Support Workers will assist in ensuring that the Local Authority meets their statutory obligations under current legislation and will have a knowledge/awareness about policies and procedures in relation to safeguarding and the statutory framework in Wales. About you: • Excellent communication skills both written and orally including the ability to communicate with children young people and their families and/or carers and families in an appropriate manner • Ability to write case recordings • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage work • Ability to work to a plan and under the close direction of other professionals • The ability to facilitate group work What you will do: • Build positive working relationship with children, young people and their families and work from a child-centred, rights based approach. • Work with children, young people and their families and/or carers with complex situations, to include those who have experience trauma and abuse. To support children, young people and families using a trauma informed knowledge / practice to develop a support plan. • Undertake direct work with children, young people and their families or carers, by using a variety of evidence- based models, methods and tools • To work closely with professionals, and partner agencies, to establish excellent working relationships and meet the needs of children, young people and their families. • Ensure that the family have an Early Help Assessment and regular Early Help meetings, with a clear Plan of work which shall be reviewed on a 6 - 8 weekly basis. • Be the Lead Practitioner for the family, will plan and Chair family meetings. The purpose of the intervention is to prevent escalation and families reaching crisis, which would require a more formal statutory responses.
