Personal Assistant for Children with Disabilities to be directly employed by families under a Direct Payment arrangement.
We are supporting families across Powys to recruit Personal Assistants to provide support for their children and/or young people with disabilities.
This position will be under a direct payment arrangement, and your employer will be the family (you would not be employed by Powys County Council directly).
About you:
Ideally, you will have the experience of providing support for children and young people, however this is not essential.
If relevant training needs are identified, this will be addressed and sourced by the family who you are employed by.
Applicants must be enthusiastic, caring and passionate about making a difference to children and young people’s lives.
You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
All applicants who are employed by families must undertake a new enhanced DBS check which will be funded and carried out by the Powys County Council DBS Team.
About the role:
The role will offer sessional support to children and young people on weekdays and/or weekends to allow them to access activities within their local communities.
You will be employed directly by the family of the child(ren) you support. Powys County Council are not responsible for employment; we are solely acting as an advertiser for PAs.

We are supporting a family to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support for their child for 4 hours a week.
Child’s profile:
The child is a 7 -year-old boy who is non-verbal and has Autism and complex disabilities.
Support will take place in the home and in the community.
You will support the child to go out for walks and to do activities in the home.
He is a big fan of Peppa Pig and loves music and noisy play.
Desired:
Full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
Essential:
Some experience of challenging behaviour is required.
Experience is not as important as attitude and empathy.

We are supporting a family to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support for their child for 2 - 3 hours a week.
The child is 11-year-old girl who is non-verbal and has Autism and ADHD.
Support will include full supervision to attend an activity within the community and providing personal care when needed.
The child enjoys swimming and soft play. She loves McDonalds and salt and vinegar crisps.
The aim of the intervention is to support the child to attend a club.
Some experience of challenging behaviour desired.
