Main Purpose of Role
To undertake work with children and families as the sole allocated worker under the direction of the Team Manager. The family will have been the subject of an assessment by a Social Worker and the level of need of the children will have been determined as being a need for general support with no risk of immediate harm. There will be a plan drawn up by a Social Worker for the work to be undertaken with the family by the HCW in order to intend that the situation will resolve and the case can be closed. There may also be other work for families who also have an allocated Social Worker. There may be a need for flexible working during the evening and at weekends. Part of the role will include mediation with families and Young people who have presented or at risk of homelessness as well as young people leaving care who are at risk of homelessness.
To undertake this work, the Homelessness Crisis Worker will need to do direct work with children and parents, and may call upon the resources of the Family Support Team and Early Help in order to support the plan.
